I heard about the new Scientology Life Improvement Center, connected to the Church of Scientology of Tampa, but I hadn't realized how much Scientologists form Clearwater helped bring this center into being. This artcle, Tampabay: Scientology takes its mission to the streets tells the story.

Here's more news about the new Church of Scientology in Buffalo. Buffalo is a terrific town and Mayor Anthony Masiello and Chairman of the Board Religious Technology Center, Mr. David Miscavige, were among the speakers who celebrated this occasions. Jenna Elfman and Billy Sheehan were there too. And unlike mid-November in Buffalo, there were no snow, no sleet, and they were able to hold the entire event outside without everyone freezing!

But all kidding aside, this is such a beautiful building and it heralds a brand new era for Buffalo, with the many social betterment programs the Church is rolling out and city officials are embracing, to handle illiteracy, crime and drugs in the area.

I have some very dear friends who are Scientologists in Buffalo, and I am delighted about this new beginning for the Church.

Good selection of articles on Scientology and other minority religions in Germany Religionsfreiheit in Deutschland (Religious Freedom in Germany). Its bizarre to me how retro some of these European countries are. Since they all signed on the the EU Charter for Human Rights, an the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, I guess the only way they can defend their stand against new religions is to claim they aren't religions.

What nonsense.

Anyone reading as single Scientology book would be pretty blind not to recognize its sprituality.
Here's an interesting page - University of Minnesota list of religion links. Lots of good sites

Rain on Halloween served two purposes - kept the ghoules off Hollywood Boulevard (it's usually such a wierd evening on the Boulevard, with people in costume walking up and down the street in the dark, doing nothing but marching. Pretty macabre. But the ghosts must hate the rain - at least in LA).

But the main thing is the fires have started dying down.

My own contribution to those who have lost so much - here is one of my favorite quotes by L. Ron Hubbard:

"Never regret yesterday. Life is in you today, and you create your tomorrow."

There is also a terrific book, that might help. Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought
